California Residents Confront Results of Wildfires
NEWS:
SAN DIEGO, California (AFP) - Firefighters reported progress Friday in controlling wildfires in southern California, but the death toll rose to nine as President Bush toured the scorched US state.
As firefighters continue to battle blazes in Southern California, many San Diego residents returned to neighborhoods once in the fires' path. Mike Sullivan reports from Ramona, outside San Diego, that some people have found their homes destroyed, while others have suffered little or no damage.

It is such a pity. Why does more and more wildfires come out in the recent years. I think it must be related to ourselves. If there are few people who smoke nearby the original forest and there are few pollution and bad materials which are easily to be fired, the wildfires maybe more hard to exist.
However, I also think at this area our Chinese should learn more from you. You have done it so well in protecting the environment. In China, because of the fast improvement in Economy, more official members ignore the environment and even sacrifice the environment for development. So I hope it will be changed in a few decades.

I think if there is fire happen in China, we will get the same solution like the U.S. Or maybe less effectiveness.

i agree with you, our china must may much attention to portect our environment, is't important to develop economy, but without the good environment, the high economy should be usefuless .
Your news report reminds me the first time I decided to travel to Austrilia and I was stopped by the wildfire which was happen in 2000. It was seriouly burned there, and it took them a long time to deal with it. People are suffered from the environmental problems in the recent years in many ways, however, those were all created by people themselves.
Oh~ This is the first time I saw two same topic.This is a terrible news. Nobody want to see or hear this kind of news happen. As we all know, trees are really important in our life. No tree, no air. No air, no human. Human being already in trouble of environment. I hope I would never hear this kind of news.
It is really a pity that to hear this news. I just came to the San Diego. The secenary there is really beautiful, especially the forests. Heilongjiang Province of China, has the largest forest in China, the fire happens every year. No one want to that happen, but sometime the fire happen without anything done by humans, just because the dry and hot weather. When people go into the wild area, they must not smoke or make fire. The goverment should also be ready to deal with the wild fire when it happens. That is my common of this article.
